A dance duo named after their favourite watering hole are set to take the top ten by storm with their debut hit single.
Brighton-based band Freemasons are currently climbing up the charts and are expecting to reach the top ten this weekend with their disco anthem Love On My Mind.
The track, released on Monday by Brighton record label Loaded Records, has been hailed as the summer dance tune of 2005 and has been played a record 14 times by DJ Pete Tong and playlisted on Radio 1, The Box and MTV.
The duo are Russell Small and James Wiltshire, who named themselves after their local pub The Freemasons Tavern, Western Road, Hove, after a bet with the landlord.
Russell said: "We were having a drink in our local and we were really stuck as to what to call ourselves.
"The landlord had said if the track got to number one he'd give us free drinks for life - we immediately shook on it so it seemed only fair to name ourselves after the pub.
"We made the bet back in October and now with everything that has unfolded since then I think he is very, very worried!"
Landlord Steve Simpson said he is now beginning to regret his bet.
Mr Simpson, 33, said: "It started as a bit of a joke but now it looks like it could happen. It was quite a compliment when they decided to name the group after the pub."
Russell is no stranger to the top ten - his previous band Phats & Small enjoyed three top ten hits, including the multi-million selling Turn Around in 1999.
Love On My Mind, which features guest vocalist Amanda Wilson, is known for its classic disco loop from Jackie Moore's This Time Baby combined with a vocal sample from an old Tina Turner tune.
Russell and James discovered Amanda singing at their local karaoke bar.
Russell said: "We were just blown away by her voice. She's got that soulful thing going on so we approached her and she was really up for it.
"We will find out how we do on Sunday. We haven't had time to be nervous because we have been working so hard but it would be great to get a top ten hit or even higher."
