Mark McGhee today admitted Albion's Carling Cup goalscorers have given him a selection dilemma.
Mark McCammon, and Jake Robinson both scored in Tuesday's first round tie at Shrewsbury and offered the biggest plusses from a shock 3-2 defeat.
McGhee has told them they have done their chance of further Championship action plenty of good.
The Seagulls boss said: "Mark McCammon was excellent. He had one of his best games for us.
"He was full of energy, he made a goal and he has really stepped back into it.
"Jake was good the entire time he was on and he got his goal. Again, he has showed what he can do. I've got decisions to make up front. They have played themselves into contention."
McGhee's seclection conundrum for Saturday's trip to Preston involves where to play Leon Knight, who started in central midfield at Shrewsbury.
Knight started the move leading up to Robinson's goal and McGhee said: "I believe Leon should be able to play in there.
"We are looking for a creative midfield player, somebody who can start things off."
Wayne Henderson is expected to return in goal on Saturday with McGhee returning a mixed review of Florent Chaigneau's debut.
After dealing impressively with his first two crosses, Chaigneau struggled under the high ball.
The Seagulls boss admitted: "He did okay with some things, at other times he looked a bit uncertain."
