Congratulations on your two-page spread about the problem of seagulls and the foolishness of feeding them (The Argus, August 16).
You quote the leader of Brighton and Hove City Council, Ken Bodfish, as urging people "to join a campaign to stop people feeding them" but he goes on to say he does not support the idea of introducing a bylaw to stop them.
Other councils do and you report that the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) favours a bylaw as being in the best interests of the birds, as well as humans.
As for the gentleman who feeds the birds in Palmeira Square each day, I'm sure he means well but I hope someone will persuade him it is unwise before it becomes illegal.
Councillor Paul Elgood lives in Palmeira Square and has seen the consequences of this folly. I hope the other councillors will support his plans to pass a bylaw.
