My wife and I have lived here for more than 60 years and have always enjoyed the facilities at the King Alfred Centre in Hove.
We are appalled at the outline planning applications for this site - the hideous towers and the ever-shrinking size of the swimming pool, no indoor bowling facilities and no local cinema.
How can Brighton and Hove City Council agree to such an application?
In this modern age, we are all told to play as much sport as possible. With the Olympics to be held in this country in 2012, the council is denying youngsters the opportunity to train locally so they have to go further afield and this becomes costly.
The swimming complex is used so much that a smaller facility will just not suffice.
I beg the council to reject these plans and supply a super sporting facility for the residents of this city. Don't bow down to these developers who are in it for a quick buck.
