Albion want to extend Wayne Henderson's loan spell and they are considering whether to eventually make the young Aston Villa keeper's move permanent.
Manager Mark McGhee has been impressed by Henderson since the Republic of Ireland under-21 international joined the Seagulls for a month just before the start of the season.
Michel Kuipers is still recovering from major shoulder surgery and Florent Chaigneau has yet to make his first appearance for Albion following his year-long loan from Rennes, so Henderson could have a longer term future with the club.
McGhee revealed: "We've asked if we can keep Wayne for a second month until we see how it all shapes up.
"Michel is still to come back and we've still to see what the French boy can do for us.
"We know what Wayne can do. He is very keen to stay here. Whether a permanent thing with Wayne is possible or not is one of the things we are considering.
"Wayne is keen on that. We like him a lot, so we have got to look at all the options."
Chaigneau will be on the bench at Hull today after Albion received international clearance and the 21-year-old could make his debut in Tuesday's Carling Cup tie at Shrewsbury.
"We don't know about Wayne for Tuesday," McGhee said. "I am waiting to hear from Villa whether we can use him or not but it may be that we will take the opportunity to look at Florent in that game anyway."
