An in-house production, worthy of the West End, has opened in Eastbourne.
This delightful Forties-style musical comedy tells the story of Ruby, who arrives on Broadway with stars in her eyes and hope in her heart. The only trouble is, the theatre is about to be demolished. But in the best show business tradition, the show does go on - on board a US Navy battleship.
West End star Kathryn Evans is superb as the Grand Dame of the theatre Mona Kent, and is a perfect foil for Ruby, expertly played by another West End actress, Helen Anker.
Making a welcome return to Devonshire Park is Tiffany Graves and Tim Flavin, who not only directs and choreographs the show but plays Ruby's love interest Dick as well.
Accomplished actor Billy Boyle proves his versatility in the dual roles of Hennessey and the Captain. All have classy singing voices and there are some show-stopping dance routines.
