Have you ever been entertained by an educated budgie?

The brainy, feathered friends will be among the acts at Zippo's Circus providing a bit of old-fashioned fun.

The great ringmaster Norman Barrett (whose story was told on the BBC's This Is Your Life) will present traditional circus acts, such as sky-high acrobats The Eagles, skillful juggler Nicolas Souren and the motorcycling Sky Riders, who zoom up a 60ft-high wire.

Prancing ponies and footballing dogs are sure to be crowd favourites, along with those trained budgies.

Love them or fear them, every circus needs a clown and Charlie Cairoli is Zippo's.

Charlie comes from a clowning family - his dad, Charlie senior, was a household name and star of Blackpool's Tower Circus for 40 years.

When he retired in 1979, his son put on his clown shoes and took over at Blackpool Tower, before joining Zippo's, where he is a children's favourite.

He is joined by Bippo the Clown, who, at the tender age of 16, has made several TV appearances in between taking his GCSEs.
