In response to Pat Elphick (Letters, August 10), while I agree the all-day fare charged by Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company is reasonable, the weekly, monthly and single fares are more expensive than in London.
As I live in the city centre, I take many single-fare short journeys. The real bargain fare savers are on Stagecoach, where the fare is only 80p instead of £1.40 - a saving of 60p on a single journey.
If Roger French wants to encourage more people out of their cars on to his buses, he will have to offer a more competitive bus fare structure and a quicker way of getting passengers on and off buses to speed up journey times.
