Oh dear! It must be a slow news month. Councillor Simon Williams moans about refuse in the streets and blames our hard-working binmen.
But the binmen didn't put the rubbish there. We did- and in flimsy plastic sacks which spill their contents. Wheelie bins are an improvement but not everyone has one yet.
Meanwhile, whatever happened to dustbins? I've had one for years.
I put my black bag in it and put the lid on and it keeps the foxes and seagulls out.
When the bin is emptied, I take it back in again. If the binmen are a bit late, it doesn't matter.
In spite of traffic congestion, inconsiderate parking, fly-tipping and spilled rubbish, our binmen are doing an amazing job and are making a big difference to the amount we recycle as well.
-Councillor Delia Forester (Labour), Brighton
