How I agree with Lynn Daly's comments (The Argus, August 9) about the litter that was left in Preston Park and around the town on the day of Pride.
I am a gay man and attend Pride every year and have to say that I was disgusted at the state of the park and surrounding streets on Saturday evening. After all, this event was called Pride. Where was the pride in ourselves when we turn our city into a rubbish dump?
There were bins in Preston Park. Some were full but why not leave the rubbish by them as many of us did instead of throwing it down where you stand? It may have been a minority who just threw their rubbish down but sadly, it was a large minority.
I look forward to the day when litter is as anti-social as dog mess now is. Why can't all the political parties on the council forget their differences and launch a campaign for civic pride in Brighton and Hove? There isn't all this litter in other countries where people take pride in their environment.
Let's start doing it here!
