I must take this opportunity to correct your article, "It's a tall order" (The Argus, August 10).
The journalist wrote "ladders are now illegal in most work situations".
This is not true. It is perfectly acceptable for ladders to be used for short-term tasks, such as window cleaning, providing the ladder is prevented from slipping.
The Work at Height regulations state: "A portable ladder shall be prevented from slipping during use by an effective anti-slip or other effective stability device."
