Three candidates are contesting a by-election in a town where there are plans to build a sewage treatment works and an estate of 185 homes.
The by-election for Peacehaven West Ward will take place on Thursday, August 25, when polling stations will be open from 8am to 9pm.
There are plans by Southern Water to build a sewage treatment works at the eastern end of the town near homes on the Newhaven/ Peacehaven border.
Both issues will figure strongly in the campaign as there is fierce opposition to both projects.
Sewers will have to be bored underneath the Peacehaven West Ward to connect to sewage treatment works.
The three candidates are: Ian Buchanan, Conservative, John Carden, Labour, and Janet Todd, Liberal Democrat.
The by-election was called after the Conservative councillor Brenda Dartnell was unable to attend meetings for six months due to illness and a family death.
No polling cards are being sent out to voters for this by-election.
Leader of Peacehaven Town Council John Livings said: "People in this ward know where to vote and we are saving £700 by not sending out polling cards."
