Paul McShane today shrugged off the impressive start to his loan spell at Albion and insisted: "I can do even better."
The Irishman's performance in central defence against Reading on Tuesday was one of the few positives manager Mark McGhee took from the 2-0 defeat.
It followed an accomplished debut display in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Derby.
The 19-year-old, signed last week from Manchester United until Christmas, said: "I haven't been fully pleased with my own performances and know I can do even better.
"I think my game will improve during my time here and playing alongside Guy Butters will help me.
"I'm learning all the time and I want to continue to learn with every game I play and in training.
"Hopefully, I can add things to my own game and be a better player as the season goes on."
McShane has adapted quickly to life at Albion but admits playing at Withdean was very different to what he has been used to at Old Trafford.
"It is always a bit strange when you move to a new place, especially settling into my new apartment," he said.
"That has been the hardest thing because my bags are all over the place but it has not been too hard to settle into the side.
"When I first came I noticed the boys had a great team spirit about them, which has made it easy for me.
"Withdean is very different to Old Trafford but I thought the fans were good against Reading. They were loud enough but they were too far away because of the track.
"The pitch was very nice, though, and it is not much different to Old Trafford, it is just the surroundings."
McShane is confident Albion can bounce back from the Reading defeat against Crewe at Withdean on Saturday.
He said: "From what I have seen, it is just a matter of time before we get three points and I think we have a good chance on Saturday.
"The lads know exactly what we did wrong against Reading. We started slowly and did not play as well as we can.
"If we can be that bit sharper like we were against Derby then there is a result there for us."
