I have just spent a wonderful week with friends in Brighton and would like to praise the Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company for its excellent service.
I was able to buy day tickets for just £2.60 and we travelled extensively within a large area. We visited Shoreham, Steyning, Rottingdean, Seaford, Falmer,
and even Eastbourne - a truly scenic ride.
However, when we arrived and enquired about getting a bus to Beachy Head, we were informed we would have to catch the local Hop On Hop Off Bus.
This bus only covered a short circuit around Eastbourne, including Beachy Head, but cost £5.50.
Only on a Brighton bus could we travel the 40 or so miles to Eastbourne and back for £2.60 but Eastbourne buses wanted to charge us £5.50 for the three-mile trip to Beachy Head.
Even had we taken the whole circuit it would have still ranked as a very expensive trip.
Brighton versus Eastbourne?
No contest.
