No fewer than 40 songs named after a day of the week have become hit records.
None of us feel much inspiration on a Monday and that would seem to be the same for songwriters, as there are only two Monday songs - Monday, Monday and Monday Morning.
Tuesday fared little better with just three songs - Tuesday Morning, Tuesday Afternoon and Tuesday Sunshine - recorded respectively by Jennifer Brown, The Pogues and The Questions.
Wednesday inspired Wednesday Week, recorded by The Undertones, and Thursday was looking brighter with Thursday's Child sung by David Bowie, which reached number 16 in the charts.
Suddenly it was Friday and it all started to happen, with no less than eight Friday-inspired songs, including Friday by Daniel Bedingfield, Friday Night with The Kids From Fame, Friday On My Mind, the Easy Beats; Friday Street by Paul Weller which was number 21 in the charts for him on October 11 1997; not forgetting another chart entry, The Damned's Friday The Thirteenth.
However, with an incredible 22 titles, Saturday swept away the mid-week doldrums.
The Drifters' Saturday Night At The Movies is probably the best known of all the Saturday songs along with Elton John's Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting.
Unusual titles include Saturday Night At The Duck Pond and Saturday Night (Beneath The Plastic Palm Trees).
Saturday Night was recorded by five groups while Sunday was not the traditional day of rest for composers, as they came up with a very respectable ten songs, including Never On A Sunday.
