Goalkeeper Wayne Henderson today vowed to make up for lost time as he took over between the sticks for Albion.
The Republic of Ireland under-21 international signed on a month's loan from Aston Villa this week and makes his debut at Derby today.
He is joined by fellow Irish loanee Paul McShane, a centre back who goes straight into the side after moving from Manchester United. Jason Dodd also makes his Seagulls debut in a new-look defence.
Henderson came close to signing for the Seagulls last January but was preventedby a mix-up over League regulations.
He said: "It was a massive blow when the previous move fell through. I was on loan at Notts County at the time and because of the mix-up it left me unable to play for anyone for the rest of the season.
"I'm really glad I have had a second opportunity to come back and now it is a case of me making up for lost time.
"I was close to going to QPR when Brighton came in and I'm really glad they did. I can't wait to show people what I can do."
Henderson is relishing the prospect of being thrown in at the deep end at Pride Park.
He said: "I haven't had the chance to think too much about the game because the move came around very quickly and I think that is the best way.
"I've come here to play and I can't wait to get started. I have only had one training session with the rest of the lads but I have met them before when I came down for the previous move and I already know a couple of them.
"I know Paul McShane from the Republic of Ireland squad and I know Alexis Nicolas from when he was at Aston Villa, so I think I will settle in quite quickly."
