Tony Mernagh wrote that 1,000 car parking spaces have already gone from Brighton and Hove city centre (Letters, July 17) but as we still suffer from congestion and pollution, this is obviously not enough.
Oxford may have increased its park-and-ride provision by thousands but it can't have removed the equivalent number of parking spaces from its city centre because it also still suffers from congestion.
In contrast, Cambridge seems pleasantly less congested and we need to find out why.
