Luke Wright today spelt out his determination to become a permanent fixture in Sussex's four-day side.
The 20-year-old took 3-33 as Sussex enjoyed first-day honours against Surrey at Hove, the best figures of his fledgling Championship career.
Jason Lewry's injuries have given the former England under-19 all-rounder a chance which he is desperate to take.
Wright said: "One of my goals at the start of the season was to play Championship cricket and I'm really enjoying the opportunities I'm getting at the moment.
"Playing last week against Gloucestershire when all the seamers were available was a really nice pat on the back because I didn't expect it.
"Jason's injury is really unfortunate but it's given me a chance. The coach and captain want me to be aggressive and attacking which is what my bowling is all about."
Wright's three victims in his second spell included Surrey captain Mark Ramprakash, who made 97 in an under-par total of 248. Sussex begin the second day on 104-2.
Speaking of his Ramprakash strike, Wright added: "He's a class act and when he's set he tends to get big hundreds so it was great to get him out."
