On the same day The Argus printed a letter from taxi driver Nick Hale criticising private motorists using the bus and taxi lanes in Brighton (July 28), it also published a photograph, taken in North Street, of a queue of double-deckers.
The caption - "It's typical, you wait hours for a bus then ten turn up at the same time" - appeared to deride the buses' presence.
As Roger French, managing director of Brighton and Hove Bus Company, rightly said, they are meant to be there.
On first seeing the picture, I thought it was a rare shot of the North Street bus lane with only buses in it but closer examination revealed seven buses, one cab and a van.
A few months ago, Brighton and Hove City Council re-vamped the restricted stretches of Western Road, North Street and Dyke Road with new road markings and camera warning signs.
This put motorists off initially but flaunting the restrictions is increasing again. Have people realised there are no cameras?
Get those bus lane cameras working - the council is missing out on a nice little earner.
