Two universities have thrown their weight behind the 2005 Brighton and Hove Business Awards - the BAHBAs.
The University of Brighton will sponsor the Best Place to Work award while Sussex University is backing the Education in Community award.
Colin Monk, pro-vice chancellor for business and marketing at Brighton, said: "The Brighton and Hove Business Awards offer a great opportunity to celebrate the success of local businesses.
"The Best Place to Work category recognises a businesses commitment to its staff and, as one of the largest employers in the city, producing highly skilled graduates entering the workforce, we felt it a very worthy category to support."
Tony Moore, deputy vice-chancellor at Sussex, added: "We are extremely supportive of businesses developing new and innovative education initiatives, being very keen ourselves to develop relevant continuing professional development programmes."
The BAHBAs will be taking place at Brighton racecourse on September 1.
This year's event is being hosted by Channel 4 News journalist Krishnan Guru-Murthy.
