While on my keep-fit regime, which means early-morning running and walking within the Newhaven and Seaford areas, one thing I have noticed is the amount of rubbish strewn all over the pavements and verges.
Most of it is household rubbish from black bags, ripped open by - would you believe? - seagulls. No, not the football type but the feathered variety.
I know you can't blame the seagull but you can blame the people who put their rubbish out days before the dustman arrives.
It doesn't help if people feed seagulls in their garden, as this seems to make them get used to household scraps.
Another thing I have noticed on my early morning pounding of the pavements is recycling bins, which have been blown over by a gust of wind.
This can be easy remedied by putting a weight on them, it's not exactly rocket science, is it?
If anyone's interested in the progress of my fitness regime - I have lost two stone.
