Brighton and Hove City Council said (The Argus, July 8) of the forthcoming Olympic Games, the city "would set up training camps using the city's facilities".
What facilities? There is no ice-skating rink, no Olympic-size swimming pool and an athletic track's field is unusable because of the ban by the footballers.
At least there are plenty of other local facilities which would test the mettle of well-honed athletes.
* Hurdling over the black bin bags in Grand Parade;
* Rubbish picking on the A27;
* Leaping to avoid the cyclists on the city pavements and promenade;
* Fighting off the beggars, drug dealers and Big Issue sellers.
