STUART STORER has eased Albion's disciplinary worries by playing it by the book.
Tuesday's draw at Rotherham was his fifth match in succession without collecting a caution. It means Albion can now pay a small fee to rub off one of the four bookings which left Storer on the brink of a ban. That will be a relief to new boss Brian Horton, because his selection options are already restricted by injuries. Aspecialist has confirmed that Stuart Tuck misses the rest of the season with a recurring groin problem, while Jeff Minton (ankle), Robbie Reinelt (knee) and Derek Allan (thigh) are out of Saturday's home game against Hartlepool. Ross Johnson collected his fourth yellow card of the campaign in the goalless stalemate at Rotherham. He is one more booking away from an automatic one-match suspension and midfielder Paul Linger is in the same situation. Horton's axed predecessor Steve Gritt is being touted as a possible candidate for the vacant manager's post at Second Division Wycombe Wanderers. Gritt applied for the Wycombe job before he took charge of Albion. The favourite to land the role is former Albion winger Neil Smillie. He has steered Wycombe to consecutive home wins since stepping up from the position of youth team coach to take temporary control following the departure of another ex-Seagull, John Gregory, to Aston Villa. Albion's all-ticket visit to Barnet on Saturday week coincides with the launch of an experiment in player and fan-friendly time keeping. The reserve official, on the advice of the referee, will hold up the appropriate numbered substitute board at the end of each half to indicate to supporters and players how many minutes are left.
