WHEN Hazel May gave birth to her third child it proved a more hair-raising experience than usual.

Baby Tempal emerged with such long locks it looked as if she was wearing a wig. And her hair kept growing at such a rate that she had to have her first proper cut after just six weeks. Since then, the 20-month-old infant has had to visit the hairdresser at least once every five weeks. And parents Hazel, 35, and John, 34, of Warren Way, Telscombe Cliffs, are still trying to work out the root cause. Hazel said: "Mine and my husband's hair is fairly straightforward, but Tempal's is just one huge multi-coloured bob. "When she was born she had a full head of hair straight away and it was very dark with blonde highlights. Even now, the colour's unusual, light brown with gold flecks in it. "In the past, people used to comment on our children's unusual names, but now they're always saying, Oh, you know Tempal, the one with all the hair'." Hazel, whose other children, Todd, eight, and Corbyn, four, have normal hair lengths, has her own theory about Tempal. She said: "We go along with the myth that if you have really bad indigestion during a pregnancy your baby will have lots of hair, because I really did suffer with that when I was expecting Tempal."
