MORE than 60 new jobs will be created when a £2.5 million ten-pin bowling complex opens at Brighton Marina next week.
The 31,000sq ft Bowlplex venue features giant bowling and pool halls, a video game arcade, fast food diner and late-night bar and disco. And it is employing local people in a host of new management, leisure and catering jobs. It is hoped the new attraction will draw huge crowds when it opens on Wednesday. Garry Gladden marketing manager for parent company Wessex Leisure Group, said: "We're creating about 60 new jobs, and all of them will be going to local people. "In our main area, there will be 26 fully computer-controlled ten-pin bowling lanes, which can be easily adapted to be children's lanes. "We will also have plenty of attractions, including a pool area and arcade. "We'll have a 2am bar licence six days a week, and on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, there will be a mixture of chart, dance and Sixties and Seventies music in the disco, with smoke machines and laser simulators creating a fun, party atmosphere." The complex, opposite the Virgin Cinema, opens its doors on Wednesday at 9.30am.
