A GUNMAN who held up a Haywards Heath off-licence on Monday night is thought to be the same man who struck at another off-licence.
Detectives are stepping up their hunt for the robber, who this time targeted the Unwins off-licence in Sydney Road. The attack was almost identical to that at Victoria Wines in Franklynn Road on April 9. On Monday, the gunman escaped with cash after showing the manager what appeared to be a handgun. He fled towards Haywards Heath railway station. He was white, in his mid-20s, about 5ft 8ins tall and had a southern accent. He wore a grey waist-length padded anorak with the hood drawn over his head. A woollen scarf hid his face. No customers were in the shop at the time and no-one was injured. Police are anxious to hear from anyone in the area at the time, particularly a blonde woman who tried to enter the shop just after the robbery, but who was turnedaway by the manager.
