LUV A DUCK! William the goose has been given the bird by the love of his life....a duck.

The gander reckons Henrietta is a right little quacker and refuses to let her out of his sight. But Henrietta just ignores his goosing about and refuses to get egg-cited by his advances. Owner Pauline Grant said William was found with another goose on the A23 in Bolney. They are thought to have escaped from a truck on its way to a slaughter house. The other goose later died, leaving poor William all on his own. But then Henrietta flew into his life and set his heart a-flutter. Now he refuses to leave her side at their farm home in Hempstead Lane, Uckfield. Mrs Grant said: "After a while William decided Henrietta was going to be his. Now he won't go anywhere without her and won't let anyone near her. "He gets very protective and regularly fights with one of our two pigs if he gets too close to Henrietta." Mrs Grant, 61, a grandmother of five, added: "She couldn't care less really, she does her own thing. "He's old and fat and can't fly. He finds it hard keeping up with her and I feel rather sorry for him." Andrew South, of the RSPB, said he was sure William's attempts to mate with Henrietta would fail. He said: "Although they might have fun trying, they would not breed successfully. Any offspring would be unlikely to survive." He explained that William's devotion stemmed from his natural instinct to pair for life.
