ALBION have made a move for former Chester central defender Julian Alsford.

He trained with the Seagulls yesterday and makes his debut in the reserves against Spurs at Worthing tomorrow night after being released by Scottish Premier Division side Dundee United.

Albion caretaker Jeff Wood said: "He couldn't settle up there and wants to come back south.

"He has a good track record. He did well at Chester and Dundee United were prepared to take him, so he obviously isn't bad.

"His family are from Bournemouth, so he wants to come back to the south coast and we are having a look at him."

Poole-born Alsford started his career with Watford. The 26-year-old was an ever-present for Chester last season, chipping in with four goals before joining Dundee United just before the transfer deadline.

Trialist Jari Makinen also makes his debut in the reserves against Tottenham. The 24-year-old left winger from Finnish First Division club GBK is currently studying in England and Albion have international clearance for him for another fortnight.

Wood will be casting his eye over both newcomers at Woodside Road tomorrow night, although youth team duo Dean Wilkins and Martin Hinshelwood take charge of the team.
