ONE man died and three others were taken ill after suspected heroin overdoses in Brighton.

Police and doctors fear extra-pure heroin has arrived in the town.

Royal Sussex County Hospital consultant Geoffrey Bryant said: "We have seen several significant batches of higher-purity heroin over the past five years."

The dead man, in his early thirties, was revived by Sgt Dave Stringer but died later in hospital.

Another man at his flat in Bramble Way, Hollingbury, recovered.

At the same time, two men were found collapsed in The Level, Brighton, from suspected heroin overdoses. They were revived by paramedics.
