CAR spares shop worker Glen Carter found changing a bulb for a customer was more dangerous than he anticipated.
The father-of-two from Wivelsfield Green, near Burgess Hill, was hit by a Volvo in a bizarre accident at the VKM shop in Station Road, Burgess Hill. Glen,32, volunteered to put in new bulbs for the woman customer.
But as he changed them the car lurched forward and pinned him against a wall.
Startled Glen is today nursing a sore leg and some bruises.
The shocked driver phoned the emergency services on her mobile phone and shoppers were amazed to see an ambulance and two police cars pull up.
Glen, of Fairplace, who is married to Maria, 29, and has two children Kirk, seven, and Sean, five, said: "I have done something to the top of my left leg. It's all swollen and I have a few bruises on my legs.
"I had just asked her to put her lights on and she started the engine and the car lurched forward.
"It's happened to me a number of times, but normally you dive out of the way. I wasn't quick enough this time."
No action is being taken against the driver.
Glen was checked over by an ambulance crew from Haywards Heath but was fit enough to continue working.
