A THREE-YEAR-OLD girl died and 12 other people were injured in a three-car crash.
Police believe the accident happened when a car overtook on a dangerous bend of the A21 at Flimwell, between Lamberhurst and Hurst Green, where the dual carriageway narrows to one lane.
They are trying to trace the driver.
ABMW travelling south, which was being passed by the car, hit the nearside verge of the road and skidded into the opposite lane, colliding with two oncoming vehicles.
The busy London-Hastings road was closed for almost five hours after the crash yesterday afternoon while emergency services tended to the wounded and attempted to clear the wreckage.
Five people were taken to the Kent and Sussex Hospital in Tunbridge Wells. Eight, including the girl who later died, were taken to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings.
The air-ambulance from Kent was used to move the more seriously injured.
Today five of the injured are still being treated in intensive care.
