A BOY who was left disabled at birth is to sue the hospital where he was born.

Four-year-old Hank Warren has needed specialist care since his birth in September 1994.

His mother Sarah has filed a High Court writ in Hank's name claiming damages of up to £50,000.

The writ has been issued against Hastings and Rother NHS Trust, who are responsible for the hospital concerned.

In the writ Mrs Warren alleges that staff who attended her at the Buchanan Hospital in St Leonards were negligent.

She was admitted to the hospital on September 8, 1994, and was there for four days while in labour and after Hank was born.

Mrs Warren, of Clifford Road, Bexhill, has been advised not to speak about the case at this stage.

Adate for the hearing at the High Court in London has still to be decided.

Aspokesman for the Trust said: "We are aware that proceedings are to be served on the Trust.

"They relate to the care given to Mrs Warren back in September 1994 during the birth of her son Hank.

"The allegations are being considered by the appropriate independent medical experts.

"We will be acting on the legal advice we receive from our solicitors.

"At this moment we cannot make any further comment."

The Buchanan hospital closed four years ago and all services were transferred to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings.
