SUSSEX have banned players and staff from bringing their families to today's World Cup showdown between India and South Africa.

Strict arrangements imposed by the English Cricket Board mean the county has only been given 26 seats for the match at Hove.

They have been set aside for Sussex's sponsors, so the players will have to seek a view of the action from the offices, rely on corporate hospitality invitations or stand up!

Grounds manager High Griffiths revealed: "There were 50 complimentary tickets and we have 26. The other 24 went to match officials.

"All of ours have gone to our major sponsors. Our players, as members of staff, can legitimately be on site but they won't have an allocated seat.

"You might see somebody like Peter Moores' wife, but as for families and kids, no way.

"Some of the players will probably sit in offices to watch and there are areas between the stands.

"I'm sure the corporate hospitality boxes would love to see players like our captain Chris Adams drop in and most of our cricket staff will probably find their way to a marquee."

The match has been a near 7,000 sell-out for months.

Around 1,700 tickets have been taken up in advanced sales to Sussex members, while 2,700 were sold to the general public through the ECB.

Overseas travel packages and sponsors account for another 1,200, 600 are for corporate hospitality and 200 for the teams, their families and the umpires.
