TWO Brighton police officers have been suspended over an alleged assault believed to have been
captured on CCTV cameras.
The matter has been voluntarily referred to the Police Complaints Authority and an investigation is being conducted by Det Chief Insp Grenville Wilson, of the Sussex Police Discipline and Complaints Department, under the supervision of the authority's Tony Williams.
The two officers were suspended last Wednesday in relation to an investigation into an incident when a man was arrested in Queens Road on September 25.
Sussex Police are saying nothing more about the matter but it is understood the investigation was launched when the incident was played back on police camera video tapes.
The alleged incident, at about 3am, would have caused a commotion and police today appealed for anyone with information to contact the Discipline and Complaints Department on 0845 60 70 999.
No complaint has been received by the man arrested and officers are planning to interview him.
