Cliff Thomos fired the home side into a fifth-minute lead after great work from Nick Flint.
Marlow equalised 40 seconds into the second half through Gary Wiltshire.
Hornets boss Nick Coombe said: "That was the best performance we've produced since I took charge. We showed a lot of fighting spirit and dug in after conceding so early in the second half.
"In previous games we would have collapsed and gone on to lose heavily. I just hope this is the start of better things for us."
The game was marred to a double sending off in the last seconds of the first half.
Hornet's Marc Allen and Marlow's Matt Wojtowicz were the shown red card for their part in a free-for-all involving over a dozen players in front of the main stand.
Lewes went down 3-1 at home to Division Three leaders Great Wakering Rovers after conceding three goals in the opening seven minutes.
The nightmare started in the third minute when a speculative miss-hit shot from John Heffer just outside the box went in off the post and 60 seconds later a cross from Kahn Stevens was side-footed home by Paul Flack.
The misery for Lewes was compounded on seven minutes when Paul Pilkington blasted past Paul Rogers from the edge of the penalty area.
But Lewes battled back and five minutes from half time they were rewarded when a right-wing crossfrom Gareth Batty was headed home by Tommy Pattenden.
Rooks bossed the second-half. Stuart Hack headed a Sam Taylor free-kick over the bar and Pattenden's close-range header was saved by Dave
Hudson.
