SEVEN years ago Terri Bradley wrote a collection of songs she was hoping to turn into a chart topping album with musician friend Mike Connaris.
However, life, marriage and children got in the way. The songs were never recorded and ended up gathering dust in Mike's London studio.
But now one of the songs has been resurrected and could lead to Eurovision success for 33-year-old Terri.
Terri, from Littlehampton, was stunned when Mike contacted her to say he wanted to let a pair of 14-year-old identical twins, known as Sexy Sadie, record the song and enter it for the annual Song for Europe 2000 competition.
The eventual winner will go on to represent the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden.
Terri's ballad was dusted down, a few alterations were made by Mike and fellow composer Paul Brown and put forward.
The song, called I Won't Let You Do This To Me, is an R&B style ballad about twins who have just discovered they are both going out with the same boy and how they react to it. Terri was delighted when she heard that her song was picked out as one of the eight finalists from more than 1,000 across the UK.
All eight songs will be played on Radio 2 on Friday and listeners will then vote for their favourite four.
The winners will then go on to perform live on BBC TV on February 20 and a phone vote will decide the UK entry for the Eurovision.
Terri, who lives in Arundel Road with her husband Mark and children Darcey, three, and Isabella, 11 months, is hopeful her song will do well.
She said: "It sounds absolutely brilliant and is really different to any of the other finalists.
"The twins do a great version and stand a good chance of getting all the way to Sweden.
"It is very exciting for me to hear someone else performing a song that I have written and it has given me inspiration to keep on writing despite my busy life as a mum. I have another song in the pipeline which I think would be perfect for Cher so I am thinking of sending it to her record company to see what they think."
The Eurovision entry is not the only song to come back to haunt Terri
As a Christmas single she recorded when she was 15 on Elton John's Rocket label has caught the eye of producers making a new children's TV programme.
She said: "The song was called Make Someone Happy This Christmas and didn't chart but it was fun to do.
"Now a TV company making a show called The Lampies have asked to use it for the programme's signature tune. It is all very exciting."
Although her Christmas song never charted Terri thoroughly enjoyed the whole business of recording, and has continued to be involved with the music industry ever since.
She said: "I may have taken a back seat from performing for a while because of the children but I have always carried on writing.
"This latest development has given me a new lease of life and who knows what could happen in the future.
"I hope that everyone else likes the song as much as I do and vote for it.
"I am very happy that the song has got as far as it has but if it got to be the UK entry it would be a brilliant start to the millennium."
