LEWES' three season stint in London Two South looks to be coming to a close after a 14-10 home defeat by Old Guildfordians.
They failed to turn territorial advantage into points and now face a huge task if they are make the cut for the new look Division Two next season.
Visiting full back Mike Gore burst into the line to score after only five minute and Lewes were 14-0 down before rallying with second half scores from Barry Jones and Dave Hemsley.
Next Saturday's Sussex Trophy trip to Haywards Heath looks to be Lewes's biggest game of the season and they will hope to have No.8 Ross Armour back from injury.
Heath warmed up with an impressive 22-8 defeat of Thanet in a friendly, tries coming from Andy Cook, Giles Goodburn and Alex Meredith. Owen Ashton converted two and kicked a penalty.
Hooker Nick Killick has fully recovered from a neck injury but skipper Henry Goodburn is struggling with a back problem for the holders.
