ALBION'S misfiring hot-shot Gary Hart played in the Reserves last night.

He turned out at Oxford, 48 hours after being hauled off in the first-team's 1-0 home defeat by Leyton Orient.

Hart figured in the opening 45 minutes of a 4-3 win for the reserves in the Avon Insurance Combination.

He was awarded a new three-and-a-half-year contract by the Seagulls in November.

But the highly-rated young striker, snatched by Albion from non-League Stansted for £1000 two summers ago, has been struggling to find the net this season.

He has scored five goals in 30 appearances and only one in the League since mid-October.

Jamie Campbell, like Hart, substituted in the second half against Orient, also found himself in the starting line-up for the Reserves.

The left-sided defender has been in and out of the first team since he was sent off at Swansea before Christmas.

Albion had to twice come from behind to beat Oxford United 4-3.

Hart and Campbell may have started the match, but Scott Ramsay and Rod Thomas proved the match winners.

Thomas set up three goals, including trialist Danny Arkright's clincher on 70 minutes, while Ramsay notched a goal double.

Adam Hamp put Oxford ahead on 22 minutes, and as they dominated, Arkright was booked. But just before the break, Thomas set up Ramsay for the equaliser, only for Sinclair Le'Guyt to put Oxford ahead again on 48 minutes.

Five minutes later, Ramsay's 20-yarder made it 2-2, then he and Thomas combined to set up Dave Cameron to give Albion the lead.

Ross Weatherstone then levelled on 67 minutes.

Thomas then rallied after getting booked for a clash with Dean Whitehead to set up Arkright for what proved to be the winner.

ALBION: Ormorod, Westcott, Campbell, Palmer, Arkright, Collins (Andrews 73), Davis, Armstrong, Ramsay, Hart (Cameron 45), Thomas. Subs: Culverhouse, Packham (not used).
