FIREMEN were called out of a blazing building at Faygate Industrial Park, near Horsham, today because it was in danger of exploding into a fireball.
Two firefighters had been sent in to force open locked roller doors at Unit 7 on the estate at about 1.50 am.
Billowing black smoke from the blaze became too thick for safety and could not escape.
It created the danger of an explosion from what fire experts call "backdraught," when the smoke and air are ingnited by heat from the fire. Four more firemen were sent in with a bigger water hose and the doors were forced open.
A total of about 50 firefighters spent two hours fighting the blaze at themetal processsing unit.
