Langney Sports will clinch the title if they win at champions Burgess Hill tomorrow night.

Daren Pearce converted a 33rd-minute penalty to earn Saturday's precious 1-0 home win over much-improved Selsey. To cap a great day for the club, Dr Martens League inspectors approved facilities at Priory Lane, which means a win tomorrow will almost certainly rubber-stamp their promotion from Sussex football.

The leaders were delighted to win after being held in their two previous home games but coach Nick Greenwood admitted: "We didn't play particularly well. We were positive and there was only going to be one winner."

Andy Ducille was brought into the starting line-up to freshen up the attack, but Greenwood said: "We might make more changes for tomorrow. It's a huge match for Burgess Hill but not really for us. Even if we draw, we'll only need one more win to clinch the league."

Burgess Hill moved into second place, although they left it late to clinch a 2-0 success at fourth-placed East Preston. Substitute Roy Pook broke the deadlock in the 70th minute with a terrific volley soon after coming on and Glenn Davies wrapped up victory with a penalty in the closing stages after Tony Holden was brought down. East Preston had Clinton More sent off in the last five minutes.

Fast-fading Saltdean suffered a 3-2 defeat away to Three Bridges with substitute Jason Allen hitting the winner a minute from time. Tyrone Raczkowski gave Bridges a first-minute lead, but teenager Phil Horsham levelled before half-time. Top scorer Paul Green restored the advantage for the home side in the 63rd minute, but the drama was far from over.

Shaun Grice missed a penalty for Saltdean, but another teenager, substitute Ian Costello, drew them level eight minutes from time. With just a minute left, Tigers goalkeeper Dean Plant fumbled Dave Armstrong's cross and Allen tapped the ball home.

There was also late drama at Eastbourne United where Stuart McCall fired into his own net from David Harris's cross to give the hosts a 2-2 draw with Horsham YMCA.

The visitors had only just gone ahead for the second time, James Bird converting a penalty.

Matt Russell opened the scoring before Laurence Dorman lobbed goalkeeper Duncan Green, who enjoyed a sound YM debut.

Littlehampton came good in the second half to win 4-0 at Chichester with Gary Standing rounding off two great moves and also setting up a close-range finish for Jonas Templeman.

Derek Chester headed his eighth of the season.

Hassocks are up to fifth after a 3-1 success over relegated Shoreham. James Laing's 13th goal in the last 15 games set them on their way. Chris Hewitt doubled the lead with a 40-yard free-kick and Joe Fernley scored a third before Tim Marshall grabbed a consolation for Shoreham.
