Albion manager Micky Adams insisted today: "Our season isn't dead."
He has set his team a target of winning their remaining five matches following Saturday's disappointing 0-0 draw at lowly Exeter.
The Seagulls are still six points off the play-offs, but they have slipped two places to 12th. Adams said: "Our season isn't dead and the players are aware of that. We have still got a lot to play for. We have got to get five wins. That's what we will be going out to achieve."
Adams was disappointed with Albion's lacklustre display at St James Park, even though they stretched their unbeaten run to nine matches.
"Out of ten I would give them five,"he said. "We never really got going in the first half and we were lucky not to go in 1-0 down. We didn't show enough desire and passion to go for the win "
Charlie Oatway came closest to breaking the deadlock with a long range volley which was pushed for a corner by Exeter keeper Jason Matthews. But Oatway admitted the players let 1,500 Seagulls supporters down. "We are very disappointed. We feel it was points dropped and we feel we let the fans down a bit, especially in the first half. "
Adams made three substitutions in the second half, bringing on Martin Ling, Warren Aspinall and Chris McPhee. He must now decide whether to persevere with an unchanged starting line-up for the fifth game running in Saturday's Withdean showdown against leaders Rotherham.
