Brighton claimed a place in the final of the Sussex Cup with a surprise 1-0 win over Worthing.
A goal from Carlo Missirian proved enough to give Brighton victory over a team they are likely to swap divisions with next season.
Promotion has already been secured from Kent and Sussex division one and now Brighton have a final date against Chichester on Saturday, May 6. Chichester, who will have the benefit of home advantage in the final, got through with a comfortable 6-2 win over Middleton and Bognor.
There were few surprises with that result and, although still an upset, some people may have predicted Brighton getting through against Worthing. The only goal came midway through the first half when Missirian scored from a short corner.
Brighton could have doubled their advantage in the second half but Graham Pruce hit the post from a penalty. Ironically, Missirian, who has not missed a penalty all season, was sin-binned at the time.
Missirian said: "It is really nice for the club because at the beginning of the season it didn't look good. We thoroughly deserved to win the league and getting in the final is tremendous."
Middleton and Bognor took a surprise lead against Chichester when Mark Pacey put the gloss on a positive opening spell.
But Chichester levelled when Oli Lane-Smith set up Brian Lock for a simple finish and Chi were 3-1 up be half time with further goals for Andy Savory and Neil Pendle. Savory, Pendle (penalty) and Lock scored further goals in the second half. Just before the end M&B grabbed a consolation through Matt Ansell.
