We are yet another family disillusioned by the British justice system. A judge has just thrown out a case of causing death by careless driving while twice over the legal limit. The police told us they had "a watertight case" but ten months after the accident witnesses couldn't remember the events leading up to it and said the opposite of their statements given to the police at the time.
The judge said although the defendant was found to have more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system at the time of the accident, it did not mean he was driving carelessly.
