Poor Mr Blair, we are so very sorry, we did not realise he had managed to get the finances of this country into such a mess that he cannot afford to give us pensioners an increase in pensions in line with all other pay rises, including his own!
In view of this sorry state of affairs, I am returning to him my 78p weekly increase (less postage) as, obviously his need is greater than mine. I should hate to think of his poor wife, on her knees beside us, going through the clothes at her local Oxfam.
