Albion understudy Mark Ormerod is in line for only his third appearance since August at York on Saturday.
He is standing by to replace injured first choice goalkeeper Mark Walton for the trip to Bootham Crescent.
The Seagulls are waiting for the results of a scan on the knee Walton hurt in training earlier this week.
Cartilage damage is suspected and manager Micky Adams rates the big Welshman doubtful for Albion's penultimate away game of the season.
Ormerod kept his place for the first ten matches of Adams' reign.
He then lost out to Walton in the battle to be the Seagulls' No. 1 and has played only twice since, prompting a transfer request at the start of the year.
Walton, Ormerod and third keeper Will Packham are all out of contract in the summer.
