Beating the burglars
Sussex Police have managed to reduce burglaries by 13 per cent in the past 12 months.
The force is using the latest technology to crack down hard on these criminals who have made decent, law-abiding people's lives a misery.
By using DNA testing, closed-circuit TV cameras and refining investigation techniques, there were 1,430 fewer burglaries in the county than the year before.
Now Jeremy Paine, head of Sussex CID, has issued a stark warning to offenders: "You are going to get caught."
The force deserves a pat on the back for its sterling efforts in beating the burglars.
But let's not forget there were still 9,546 of these crimes reported in the county in the past 12 months.
And that's still 9,546 too many.
Love wins
Sweethearts Neil Meyer and Dawn Hartley have returned to Sussex after a romance marred by immigration red tape.
Neil moved to England in 1995 and quickly fell in love with the girl of his dreams.
But his application for permanent residency was turned down and he was faced with deportation.
Although getting married would have solved their problems, the couple moved to South Africa because they did not want to be pressurised into the move.
Now they are ready to tie the knot and settle once and for all in Sussex.
It's been a long and difficult struggle for Neil and Dawn, but love has now prevailed and we wish them every success.
Seeing red
Pop star Mick Hucknall angered fans after cutting short a performance at the Brighton Centre.
The Simply Red frontman walked off stage well before schedule and, despite a ten minute standing ovation, did not reappear for an encore.
This prima donna should remember it is his fans who pay his wages.
And right now they are seeing red.
