What incredible arrogance demonstrated by Lewes Town Councillors regarding the outcome of the vote of no confidence (Argus, June 30).

What percentage turnout would cause the elected officials to take note? Surely any turnout in a free vote must be deemed to be representative of the electorate?

Of those who did, 80.3 per cent supported the motion, a pretty conclusive result I would say. But as in so many cases, officials, once elected, simply thumb their noses at those who put them in office with little or no regard for their opinions and proceed to decide whatever they choose.
