Shaun Davies has followed in his father's footsteps by becoming a boxing trainer.
He has just been awarded his licence by the British Boxing Board of Control.
Dad Ronnie trained Hove's former world champ Chris Eubank. "It's nice to keep it going in the family," said Ronnie.
"Shaun couldn't box himself because he was short-sighted, but he has been in and around the game all his life.
"I had him in the gym with me for a year and he sailed through the tests easily."
Shaun, 29, will be in the corner with Ronnie when the star of his Hangleton stable, Howard Eastman, tops the bill at the Elephant & Castle on July 25.
Eastman, the unbeaten British middleweight champion and No. 1 contender for the WBA world crown, has returned to Davies after a three-month split.
"He's realised his mistake," Davies said. "It was difficult for me to keep travelling to London, so we have compromised now.
"When fights are coming up Howard will spend half of his time down here and half up there."
