Believing the regeneration of Newhaven was nearly completed, or at least after five years would be well into its programme, I took the opportunity to have a quick look around during my last trip to France via the Newhaven fast ferry.
I was disappointed.
Perhaps I missed something, perhaps I took the wrong road, perhaps I was distracted at the vital moment, but I could not see anything had changed.
Where were the people, where was the exciting new heart of the town, where had all the money gone? What have the Newhaven Economic Partnership and Lewes Council's regeneration and economic development department been doing?
The regeneration programme for Newhaven requires investment in terms of people and money. There has to be a reason for people from both sides of the channel to visit Newhaven.
