Warren Aspinall wants to know whether he has a long-term future with Albion.
The vastly-experienced midfielder is currently on a month-to-month deal and his latest contract expires on Tuesday.
He was due to begin talks with boss Micky Adams at Albion's Irish tour base in Ballygar last night and admitted: "I just want to stay with Brighton."
Aspinall was told he could find another club during the summer but he's back with Adams squad as they build towards the Nationwide League campaign.
He said: "At the moment the contract is up next Tuesday and hopefully I can get another. It's in the hands of the manager and the chairman and I've just got to wait and see.
"From a financial point of view its hard because you've only got a job for a month.
"I would like a longer contract but if I've got to do the month-to-month, I will do it.
"I've spoken to a couple of clubs but they have been too far away from my family. I know the gaffer here and they are a good bunch of lads and I want to remain part of the squad."
Adams, who put his side through two training sessions in hot and humid conditions yesterday, would only say: "As far as I am concerned Warren's here on a month-to-month agreement and that will continue until otherwise."
Seagulls go to Galway United this evening (7.30pm) and the boss believes it could be the toughest of their three-tour fixtures.
He said: "I'm expecting another fitness exercise. Galway are probably the strongest team we are going to face.
"I don't place too much importance on results providing the boys go about their game in the correct manner, as they have done so far."
Darren Carr returned to full training yesterday having recovered from the back injury which kept him out of matches at Worthing and Longford.
But Matt Russell and Rod Thomas managed only light exercises. Both are suffering from thigh muscle injuries, Russell's sustained during the warm-up for the Longford game.
